Expanding the Mind

My Photographic expression has now moved into Close-up Photography. From Bugs, Ants, Bees to Lego. Yes, The Lego Federation has become big part of my photography and it has been a wonderful learning adventure. The Process of building something is wonderful.

I really enjoy the building stages and photographing each phase of the process. It reveals, structure, foundation and it is also a meditation for me.

As you can see from the images, the foundation has been set, the columns are in place and the structure is being built up. Maximum depth of felid required for sharp images. As these were shot in doors, I used my Speed Light on Full Power Manual Mode for nice bright images.

This process of building and photographing takes longer. For me, it is perfect, as a meditation, my mind is empty, I am just being with the process. I normally engage with this after a show. Coming home late, I am not tired, I find television boring so this is my perfect downtime to just be, not thinking and yet I know my mind is doing a post show analysis even though I am not actively thinking about it.

Lego teaches true patience, Photography teaches stillness, awareness and training my vision.

With the end insight,  anticipation and a sense of accomplishment fills my body. Lego is simply fantastic for creative expression, with my camera. I can see my second and third passions working well together.

I am now a Lego Photographer.

“Creativity is just connecting things. When you ask creative people how they did something, they feel a little guilty because they didn’t really do it, they just saw something. It seemed obvious to them after a while. That’s because they were able to connect experiences they’ve had and synthesize new things”.
