The Game of Life

This Blog Post is dedicated to my friend Julian, a 9 year old Chess prodigy.

Chess is a fascinating game.

It could almost be the the game of life, in a none threatening context. And yet, it is full of implications and outcomes so closely related to the study of concequences.

This is a game that conditions the mind to think in terms of possible multiple outcomes.

I have become attracted to this game because of my friend Aljaz’s son Julian. Julian taught me how to play the game and subsequently he Checked Mate me in under 10 minutes. I am fascinated by the intellectual effort required to keep this game alive.

This is a game for Kings.

A study of human nature.

A study of one self.

These images were taken on Baker Street inside The Game Shop and outside there were two tables set up for members of the public to relax over a friendly game or battle depending on your point of view. The social context is a wonderful thing, it brings people together.

Near my home is an open space garden with a Chess Set up made of stone, it looks very impressive. They made one mistake; the seats are in the wrong position because the White Sqaure on the board must be on the right.

I want to thank Julian because he reminded of a quote in the bible:

Isaiah 11:6 “and a little child will lead them”.
