Life At 18
March 3, 2019I like to keep things interesting.
I get bored very quickly so it’s important to live on the edge of uncertainty. That is where my creativity comes to life.
Recently, I decided to work at 18mm using my XF18-135mm. This expansive view works for me because it is how I see given the fact I am right eye dominant. My field of view is approximately 14mm right up to 23mm.
In Full Frame Terms that’s 21mm up to 35mm.
That’s is how I see and experience the world because of my wonky left eye which hasn’t worked since birth.
No big deal; I am a deaf, wonky eyed, Sleight of Hand Magician who is a Photojournalist in his souls, go figure. The gods are having a laugh at this one.
So, the last few days have been all about creating an expansive context for my images at 18mm.
All I can say is wow.
The world and life has become much grander and with it comes a deeper responsibility to manage the spacial real estate in my view finder.
Today at St.Paul’s offered up a few opportunities to create some Panoramas and exciting moments.
This image of St.Pauls is seven vertical Images stitched in Lightroom. I became a stitcher a long time ago because Wide Angle Lens were and still are expensive.
Technique is more important than G.A.S.
Next week it’s Chicago and I am excited.
I am traveling with only two Lens: the XF18-135mm for outdoors and the 23mm 1.4 for indoors or low light levels.
Stay tuned - it will be a wide and wild adventure.
