18 & 35

This is my current set-up for everyday Photography.

I love it.

The XF18mm F2 on my X-T1 is my primary Camera. My second X-T1 is paired with the 35mm 1.4.

This set-up feels correct; authentic and organic to my vision and my shooting style. Seeing Wide at 18mm and Long at 35mm , 28mm/53mm respectively gives me my most natural and organic visual expression.

I left home very early Friday morning to attend my Breakfast meeting. I caught the morning Blue Hour.

The 18mm functioned very well at F2.

After the meeting, I had a bit of time to kill before meeting a friend at 11:00 am so I walked through Piccadilly Circus creating early morning images.

The 18mm demands that I get close enough to frame my composition. Being wider than the 35mm Lens gives me much more space to deal with.

I love the 35mm Lens; to be honest, I would happily use the 35mm and nothing else, it falls right within my visual fame.

By the time I got to Kings Cross station, it was busy and congested with people everywhere.

The 18mm is a perfect Lens for getting close and framing the moment. I used the flippy screen on the camera to frame and remain invisible.

I met up with my dear friend Heather. We decided to relax at The St.Pancras Radisson Hotel. This is a wonderful and very photogenic environment.

The 18mm is my everyday Lens; the 35mm/53mm is my Details and Portrait Lens.

The 35mm is another gorgeous Lens, especially for Portraits. This image of my friend renders a perfect expression.

I am delighted with this two Lens set up. It’s a fluid way to work.

I have other combinations that I will write about; the XF23mm 1.4 and the XF 56mm 1.4. Stand by for that report.

For now, I hope you enjoyed the visual treat of the 18mm & 35mm.
