The Great Passion

The Passion of Jesus Christ is the greatest story ever told.

Whatever you hold Jesus to be, just consider for a moment the implications of his extraordinary life, death and ressurection.

What could this mean for you?

Think on it.

This time of year celebrates his life with an astonishing reenactment at Trafalgar Square. A cast of actors portray the life of Jesus from his arrival to Jerusalem on Palm Sunday.

His arrival is full of hope.

I felt it.

Jesus performs one miracle after another.

The Romans and High Priest are not happy, they feel threatened by this man called The Messiah.

Jesus isn’t happy, he confronts the tax collectors.

Everything in this production was authentic and none of its emotional impact was diminished on Good Friday.

What came next was equally stunning.

Jesus presented himself with great humility. He was a gift to us from God. God loves us and gave us his only son, why? So we would be free of torment in this mortal life, free of pain, sadness and suffering.

In Jesus, we are clean and free.

If only we could touch the hem of his garment today.

If only.

Why is this so?

Because of his PASSION.

Jesus knows the end is near.

He surrenders to his mission with great humility.

His feet are washed and dried.

As the day draws to an end, Jesus and his friends break bread for the last time. The Last Supper also reveals the true depth of faith and love.

Peter and Judas both experience the passion of Jesus.

Tired and weary, he ask his Disciples to watch over him as he prays and rests in The Garden of Gethsemane.

They all fell asleep…..

The arrival of Judas in The Garden of Gethsemane came with a kiss of betrayal.

The son of man betrayed with a kiss…..

And now, The Trial.

Any profound truth will be ridiculed, violently opposed long before it becomes self evident.

The Scourging; a brutal reminder of how the Romans treated the innocent and guilty.

The Crucifixion & Death

On this day, he utter the words, “it is finished”.

In this moment, everything stopped.

I can only imagine how the people must have felt, the earth trembled, the sky became dark.

We had to wait until the final prophecy would be revealed.

The life of Jesus was prophesied long ago in the Old Testament and here it is lived out to the end.

Darkness Falls.

The Earth is quiet.

REJOICE

He lives again🙏🏽

He has risen from the dead.

He has conquered his own immortality.

He reveals himself to those who believe in him. For only those who believe will know, he was the son of God.

This entire production was excellent.

It was emotive, compelling and provocative.

This was my time alone with him.

I pondered my relationship with Jesus.

Walking the straight and narrow gate has not easy after my baptism in 2019.

I know what my life is about now after losing my mother.

I live for Jesus, my life is to bring glory to his name.

Jesus lives.

Happy Easter 🙏🏽
