A Visit To Grantham

There nothing quite like a Train Journey out of London for a few days. It’s short enough not to drag out and long enough to feel complete.

My Trip to Grantham was to visit my friend Heather. She is one of my oldest friends and our relationship has endured for over 20 years.

My journey time was one hour from Kings Cross. Driving to Grantham would take 3 hours. Heather met me at the station and we headed off to a very nice Caffe in Grantham Town Centre.

It was a perfect Lunch in an ideal setting.

The Cafe was busy and energised.

After Lunch we visited St.Wulfram’s Church.

This Church is famous because it has the second tallest spire after St James' Church, Louth. The construction of this Church began in the early 1300s. The primo pile material used was Lincolnshire Limestone. It can seat up to 700 people for Sunday Mass.

The Churches in The United Kingdom are magnificent. So far, I have seen Winchester Cathedral, Westminster Abbey and now St.Wulfram. These Churches were built using stone and really amazing interior design considering the time frame they were built.

Grantham is the birth place of Baroness Margaret Thatcher.

This statue in her honour resides in the heart of the town centre.

This completed my first day in Grantham
