Poland | Kawka i Huśtawka

When I travel abroad, one of my first requirements is to find a Cafe local to my Hotel. This is important for me because this place becomes my base of operations.

No matter what City, the local Cafe is my home from home.

My recent trip to Krakow was no different. In fact, I knew this Cafe would be my special place because my friend Barbara runs her business here.

We last met four years ago, the Covid Pandemic interrupted our lives so seeing her again was a great joy.

Her Cafe is called Kawka i Huesta which means “Coffee and Sweets”. It really is a beautiful place.

When we last met she told me about her dream to have her own Cafe and she made it happen.

The Cafe is in the town centre of Krakow.

The the street ambience is very charming - once you enter the Cafe, it feels like……home.

Barbara has done a wonderful job designing the anterior decor to feel warm, relaxed and inviting.

The furniture all comes from her family history. It felt correct and dignified.

I was surprised by the depth of space and back rooms which featured more comfortable seating areas. All designed for relaxation, meditation & quite time; this is how I experienced it.

The menus is outstanding; all home made. Her passions is sweet things.

Cakes of many creative expression.

I was seduced by her Black Forrest Gateau.

It was the best I have ever tasted, full of depth and texture. Her Tiramisu was first class all supported by a delicious Cappuccino.

A good Coffee Shop is an extension of home, a place to visit without feeling you have left home. The source of this feeling is the quality of friendship with the owners. This is how I establish my base wren I the countries I have.

I will return to Krakow very soon.

Thank you Barbara for such a warm greeting and magical time.

See you soon, very soon 😉

“My perfect time of day is being still and silent in my cafe, shuffling my cards with a great book on card magic near by. My favourite waitress serving me Coffee. No talking, just gratitude for the joy and bliss in this perfect moment”.
