Loving the 40mm field of view as I do, I went looking and researching to find an option for my Nikon D700. Imagine my surprise; this is the one focal length not available from Nikon D or G versions. Canon make a full frame 40mm Lens - pancake style which has proven its worth.

The only 40mm available for my Full Frame is the Sigma 40mm 1.4 which is a monster of a Lens but from reviews stellar in optical performance. The Voigtlander 40mm is also an option but manual focus.

This means using my Nikkor 28mm F2.8D Lens on my D7100. This is no different than using the Fuji XF27mm F2.8 on my X-Pro 1. The field of view is the same 40.5mm / 42.5mm.

It renders perfectly - no problems.

I am still considering an option for my D700 because that Camera is simply STUNNING even in today’s high Mega Pixel count. The Sigma option is very appealing, in-spite of size and weight, it’s not a big deal because I use a 24-70mm and 70-200mm on my D700 both of those Lens are big and heavy - no problem. The Sigma 40mm full frame is my number one choice.

Watch this space.

For now - I have what I need.
