Sunday Stroll
October 10, 2021When it strikes, I just have to get out of the house and walk.
I felt it today; I grabbed my XT1 and just went for slow walk through my park.
I felt inclined to take the XF18-135mm f3.5-5.6.
Look at that Aperture rating, it’s considered a slow Lens.
Guess what?
I don’t let that stop me.
I have said it before, this Lens is simply fantastic.
It was mid afternoon so the Light was good and I knew my ISO would be below 1250.
The XF18-135mm is a fully capable Lens. I don’t worry about Bokeh and fast F Stops. At 18mm, my Aperture will be F11 right up to F22
This Aperture and focal length is for storytelling composition and achieving depth of field.
At 23mm I am looking at Street Photography, environmental compositions - this begins at F8
All other Focal Lengths are for Portraits and Detail shots - my Aperture will be F5.6 and above.
The most important thing with this Lens is ISO and Shutter Speed.
The 1.5 Crop factor means I have a field of view equal too 27-202.5mm.
That’s a very versatile focal range.
Plus this Lens has stabilisation. So my stutter speed begins at 1/250 or 1/500 if the light is good.
Today while out walking, it was favourable - I was working with Centre Weighted metering - I was experimenting with protecting my highlights.
I like going for long walks.
With my Camera in hand I am free and allow the moments to speak to me.
This is my meditation.
It makes a big difference to my mental health and spirit.
