Winter Wonderland Meets The XT1

It’s Winter Wonderland in London right now. This was a perfect excuse to sign up for a workshop on Long Exposure image creation this evening.

This workshop was organised by Andrew Mason of 36 Exposure.

Andrew provides great training for Photographers covering virtually all disciplines.

Tonight it was pitch black- the only light available was the ambient light from the Fun Fair rides, food vendors and other electric goings on around Hyde Park.

I did my best to create some attractive images because this was not Blue Hour Photography.

This was Long Exposure.

My settings were:

Fuji XT1

14mm

ISO 200

Aperture F22

Manual Focus Pre-Set to 1 Meter

Tripod

My Shutter Speed came in at 8 seconds and some moments went as long as 30 seconds.

I really enjoy this aspect of Photography.

The effects of Long Shutter Speeds creates a fantasy like image which I find very appealing.

The one thing which made these images possible was not only my understanding of exposure times but, the most critical element was the use of my Tripod.

Our group tonight had the privilege of having special passes which granted us access to Hyde Park and the free usage of our Tripods.

This ensured tack sharp colourful images.

I knew what I want to create, the images are all here.

On the way home, I created this lovely shot at Marble Arch and I remembered good old fashioned Light Trails to end things on a positive night of image creation.

I am grateful to Andrew for organising this session.

It was great fun.

Do check out his courses.

Finally, I have to say how magical my Fuji XT1 is. I know there is a version 2 and now 3. I asked myself, do I really need to upgrade when my dream Machine keeps giving me such amazing images?

These images were shot in Raw, edited in Lightroom and polished in Photoshop.

I have everything I need.

Nothing broken.

Nothing to fix.

It’s all magical to me.

Merry Christmas from Winter Wonderland.
