16 - 18 - 23
May 23, 2025My Wide Angle Photography begins right here with the image above.
The XF16mm, The 18mm & The 23mm; that's 24mm, 27mm and 35mm in Full Frame field of view.
All three Images above were created with the 16mm in the left, the 18mm in the middle and the 35mm yellow bicycle.
They could have all been created using any one of these Lens. What is interesting is the minute difference in mm/field of view.
The 16mm/24 offered up a more expansive view
The 18mm crops in slightly.
The 23mm/35mm allows me to use it almost like a 50mm. Standard Lens.
A Wide Angle Lens is extremely versatile for different subjects. When I travel I always take my 16-80mm F4 just so that I have a Wide Angle option for my environmental shots.
These three Lens are simply marvellous.
Any one would be enough and yet, I consider them to be different. Each with a specific context and functionality. My Travel Zoom, the XF16-80mm covers all three focal lengths so I would only travel with one fast Prime for low light images.
These Lens force me to see the potential of a scene worthy of these marvellous optics
Thanks for reading.
"There are two kinds of photographers: those who compose pictures and those who take them. The former work in studios. For the latter, the studio is the world…. For them, the ordinary doesn't exist: every thing in life is a source of nourishment".
