2020 Vision | 50mm F2

The XF 50mm F2 is another gorgeous offering from Fuji.

I like this Lens a lot.

What found interesting were the reviews; they were in the main very good, but I didn’t feel this Lens was spoken about in glowing terms as the stunning XF56mm F 1.2

I normally use this as part of my XPro2 Kit along with the 18mm F2, 35mm F2 and 90mm F2. That’s a Wide, Normal and Telephoto all covered.

The 50mm F2 for my wonky eyes gives a truly normal distance perspective with a crop on the sides. Using my feet to zoom around 6 meters gives my images a normal 50mm full frame perspective.

This is what using this Lens has taught me - where do I need to stand to get the best possible framing?

Around 6 Meyers from my subject is perfect.

I also have the advantage of a short Telephoto with this Lens which is fantastic.

The only F2 Lens I don’t have is the 23mm. I don’t need it because I have the XF23mm 1.4 and the X100F with it’s fixed 23mm F2 Lens.

This 50mm Lens is perfect for the XPro2 - today was an experiment to see how it performed on my XPro1.

The images speak for themselves.

It’s a winning combination and as a Portrait Lens, it captures my mother in one of her downtime Tea moments with great rendering. I love how Classic Chrome looks on my XPro1. I discovered how to create the Classic Chrome vibe because the XPro1 doesn’t have the Film Simulation.

To finish off this post, here’s one more of mum
