2020 Vision | A Tourist In My Own Country

Traveling to an exotic location is out of the question right now. Mum keeps asking me, “let’s go home to St.Lucia”.

With Airports closed and the whole country in Lockdown, this means zero opportunity to experience a different culture.

What’s an Image Creator to do?

Dam it…

Well, I thought to myself, what would a Tourist do if they came here? They would hit the streets with a map of London in hand.

That’s it, lol😂…..think like a Tourist.

This morning with the light looking seriously gorgeous, I thought I would practice my Streetscapes.

I headed down to The Grand Union Canal.

The environment is extremely photogenic.

I have created images there before, however, I am a different image creator now, so today’s visual story communicates a brand new narrative.

The narrative is a perfect expression of how amazing London really is.

The suburbs of Westbourne Park and Meanwhile Gardens is visually rich, just waiting to be captured in all her glory.

This morning was a feast for my eyes.

The early morning Light was pure gold.

The Golden time of day is that moment when the Light says “good morning, welcome, are ready for me”?

This experience was so energising.

I deliberately chose to shoot with two bodies: My XT1 paired with the 18-135mm F3.6-56 and My XPro2 paired with the XF 10-24mm. F4.

This was a study in seeing in Wide Angle.

I knew this location would be vast and epic because of The Bridge over The Grand Union Canal.

As always, I had to work my scene to create the expansiveness I was looking for.

I made some wonderful discoveries - a small pond which gave me an epic view of The Trellic Tower.

So, I am happy and complete.

Thinking like a Tourist during this Lockdown means I can give myself a powerful respite for my daily duties.

This is my physical, emotional and spiritual work out.

I come home uplifted to continue my duties and give my mother what she needs, to ensure her quality of life and well being.

Thanks for reading.

Happy Sunday to you x
