2020 Vision | Kilburn

Kilburn is a stones throw from Maida Vale.

A short walk through Paddington Recreation Ground and I feel I am in a completely different energy.

A cultural mix of people: Indian, Irish ☘️ and Caribbean.

A melting pot of personalities.

Kilburn is the stage for Urban Life.

This was another location for my childhood playground.

The image above shows another aspect of regeneration.

The area is being transformed into a classy aspect of North West London.

And yet…

The community of Kilburn High Road thrives with an expression of life in spite of physical challenges.

Yesterday, I needed to visit my Bank.

I was greeted with this scene.

I thought I saw people queuing out side my bank.

I quickly realised my Bank has shut down.

The queue was much longer - this was the Kilburn community doing their shopping outside Sainsbury’s.

Kilburn is a compressed environment and I can only imagine how long these people had to wait to do the shopping.

This is the impact of Covid-19.

The Pandemic has created uncertainty and completely changed our rhythm of life.

Not to mention our WAY of life.

What now?

Well, I am Documenting this journey of transformed living.

What I see is our community just getting on with it.

No complaints.

Just responding to life.

This in itself is admirable.
