2020 Vision | Little Venice At Dusk

I really love the impact of Blue Hour Long Exposure Photography.

I have created many images using this technique over the years with my Nikon Gear.

I have not done a lot using my Dream Machine Fuji Cameras.

As the Sun was about mid sky due west to my Balcony, I grabbed my Camera and Tripod and headed to Little Venice.

The Camera I was using was the stunning X100F with a built ND Filter 3Stops worth.

I thought let me test this.

I had the feeling the light would still be too BRIGHT to get my shutter speed below 1 second.

My settings were:

ISO 100

Aperture F16 - I stopped then Lens down as far as it would go because of the light. The Lens on the X100F is 23mm F2 - F16

My Shutter Speed came in 1/10 sec

Once I activated the built in ND Filter, the Shutter Speed came in 1/2.8 in the first image above.

The second image: 1/1.3 sec

The Image below : 1/15 sec

From these settings, my Shutter Speed was not slow enough.

The Built in ND Filter did its job perfectly.

In fact, it is such a fantastic addition to these amazing cameras.

The Sun is setting right now as I type this so tomorrow I will leave home at 7-45pm and try again.

I know this technique works because of the images below, take a look.

This aspect of image creation slows me right down because every element of this creative endeavour is all manual.

Everything is set manually.

I consider this to be the sleight of hand and of Image Creation.

I promise you some gorgeous images over the next few days.
