2020 Vision | Self Portrait

The lockdown has me enjoying this time more than I expected.

I have been studying Light, specifically the Light from my Studio Strobe.

In Layman’s terms Off-Camera Flash.

My Set-Up couldn’t be simpler.

One Speedlight

One Light Stand

One Umbrella SOFTBOX

One Wireless Trigger for the Flash and a Remote Wired Trigger for the Camera.

This all worked perfectly.

What surprised me is the quality of the light from my Umbrella SOFTBOX - the brand is Walimex.

It opens like a normal Umbrella with a built in defusing panel that wraps around my Speedlight.

The quality of the light is soft and bright - really expressive lLght.

For such an inexpensive item, it functions perfectly and it is light as a feather. This makes my Lighting System very portable.

I am well happy with this because it means I am now fully mobile.

These self portraits are the results of practicing my lighting patterns.

Let’s end on the classic Rembrandt Lighting.
