2020 Vision | Serenity

Self Portrait Day 10 - Serenity:

The Serenity Prayer is beautiful beyond the concept of words and language.

It is profoundly spiritual in context, meaning and impact.

I never realised there was a second part after the main prose, here is the full prayer, pay attention to the second part:

God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change;

Courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it;

Trusting that He will make things right if I surrender to His Will;

So that I may be reasonably happy in this life and supremely happy with Him forever and ever in the next.

Amen.

Reinhold Niebuhr.

The second part of this prayer is the part that provides an access to power. And the access is to appreciate what we have now in the moment, to celebrate the moment exactly as it is and exactly as it isn’t.

It also provides us with an element of truth that there is something in this world far more powerful than the bullshit nonsense we have to deal with on a daily basis and take us truth.

I know exactly where I am placing my faith. I will not be placing my faith and understanding on current affairs.

I’m placing my faith in something I can’t touch or see but I can feel and truly believe in. I am a tiny part of the Cosmos. I am nothing and I represent the possibility of everything in the name of Jesus Christ amen.
