Black History Month 😂

What a Joke…

This circus coming to town once a year is an insult to my intelligence and sensitives.

Black History “Month” to me undermines the significant contributions of Black People throughout the history of the world.

Who built The Pyrimids?

Who wrote The Count of Monte Cristo?

Who invented The Traffic Light System, The Radiator, The Ironing Board?

Who worked out the mathematical computations that allowed man to leave the Earth, orbit the Earth and return safely.

This same computations would transform the space age monopoly and put a man on the moon 🌓.

So when I hear it’s Black History Month I dont pay it no mind.

I know my history.

I don’t need to be told when I can celebrate my History and the achievement of my kind.

To do so is to placate some kind of covert guilt.

I know people who are dear friends, not brown skin like me for decades, who fully understand what it means to be subjugated, have their history insulted and know fully well what it feels like to be treated with less than the dignity and respect that you deserve as a human being.

So this issue of acknowledgment about Black History just doesn’t work for me.

I may be mixed race, however, I was born of a Black Woman and I have taken my rightful place on my Mother’s side of the family.

Raw to the Core Black People from St.Lucia via Sierra Leon…..I know my History.

So this time of year for the celebration of Black History quite frankly is fucking insult.

This is my truth.
