35mm CF | Creating The Frame

Photography is about creating an images.

It’s much more significant than being a trigger happy “snapper”.

Vision, seeing the potential for an image and working the scene is part of the creative processes.

This image is a simple example.

The lady standing still.

The gentleman in full stride providing contrast to the dignified stillness in the moment.

This example is interesting; I saw the man earlier walking to the spot where he is seated. I waited and positioned myself opposite. I found this scene much more interesting. It communicates stillness and aloneness.

Little Venice is so photogenic.

No matter where I position myself, an image can be created. I love how the Walk Bridge creates a lovey backdrop framing to the Canal and leading the eye to the on coming boat.

So, using The 35mm Lens as it is intended with the classic 35mm Full Frame, I have a deeper appreciation for how this paring must be used.

I like to think of it as a context story telling tool.

It is perfect for framing a broad narrative. This final image captures the moment before the people all start walking towards each other. The back of peoples heads provides a very good foreground interest and contrast to the oncoming faces.
