35mm CF | Framing & Composing

Without any reservation, I think the 35mm F1.4 is a spectacular Lens.

I love it, absolutely love it.

I find it a beautiful option to my sweet spot - at 28mm. That’s ok, for me, the extra 7mm is only few steps backwards.

Zooming in with my feet is all part of the Framing and Composing. I was back at Little Venice today. I became aware of something; this Lens being a wide, but not too wide angle needs a subject matter that does justice to the classic frame.

I can sense how I will use this Lens; The Human in relation to his environment.

This is interesting: I am seeking a background environment with a human element.

Today was all about people within the classic frame.

When it comes to people and the 35mm Lens, this is not about Portraits. The environment is the context, the stage, people are characters / content, that fills the stage or contributes to the visual narrative.

Using this Lens has given me a big breakthrough in my Street Photography. I have no problem getting close to my subjects. I think I will manage the frame to ensure I don’t lose the context of the environment.

This is a perfect Lens to use if I ever do an Essay about a person and their work or a Demonstration or Travel Documentary.

Let’s not forget how wonderful this Lens is for rendering scenery.

This has been so much educational fun.

Thanks for reading.
