35mm | Creating Joy

I have zero attachment to gear.

I know what I like.

I shoot Film with an old Canon A1 - it works fine. In 2013, I was toying with the idea of the 5D MK iii. I went with The Nikon D90 - I loved that camera.

These two images of Badaling, China were created using The D90 and the 18-105mm 3.5-5.6

Looking back on that time, my photography was a lot simpler. It has become far too complex now simply because of the hype and competition from the big brands.

I shoot Nikon and Fuji depending on my assignments. I use Nikon for Business Receptions, Corporate Headshots, Events, Lifestyle Projects, Nature and Wildlife.

My Fuji Kit is simply fantastic for my passionate subject - People, Places, Culture, Documentary Photo journalism.

All of these topics come under the heading of Travel Photography. I think this label is fine but my expression and vision is much larger. I am really interested in the life of people around the world. My Travels have opened my eyes to this rich subject.

My choice of two systems work for me because of weight restrictions when Traveling and functionality.

Today, I created images using my old D700.

This Camera is a joy to use and create with.

The image quality is gorgeous.

The end product is important - the final image.

How I get to that point is a great joy - the act of creation.

The purpose of life is to create.

Creation is a fluid energy at play.

“The creation of something new is not accomplished by the intellect but by the play instinct acting from inner necessity. The creative mind plays with the objects it loves”.

Carl Jung
