Brand New Context

Henri Cartier Bresson proceeded Malcolm Gladwell by several decades; he said “your first 10,000 images will be your worst”.

Malcolm Gladwell wrote in his Book”Outliers”, “ten thousand hours is the magic number of greatness.”

It has taken me 10 years of daily practice, shooting, reading, refining, more shooting to understand how I see; how my eyes work.

With the return from Fuji Film of my X100F, I now have a designated Camera with the WCL attached; this is my version of The Leica Q2.

This is my permanent 28mm Camera - this is tuned into my eyes and daily vision. I am happy and excited about this because it means I have total freedom of expression with it.

If I need another focal length for a specific subject, I will have it on my X-E3; most likely a 35mm F2. This makes for a fluid shooting set-up.

My new context for daily shooting is to use two bodies; one wide Lens at 18/28 and a medium telephoto starting at 35/50mm.

I feel a great sense of freedom in this approach. I hate changing Lens, a Zoom Lens with a variable Aperture requires good quality and directional Light for effective usage - the XF18-135mm 3.5-5.6 comes mind. This is a great Lens to use when I am feeling a one Camera, One Lens approach.

I am excited about this new adventure and expression.

Thanks for reading x
