Bryan’s Legacy
May 7, 2025These two Books by Bryan Peterson have become my play Books for creative images.
They both schooled me in Bryan's system for creating an image as opposed to just taking a photo -"click".
His coaching through these pages reveals a sharp intelligence and communication regarding this complex subject. Yes, complex because we are dealing with an element we have no control over, THE LIGHT.
The best we can do with Light is accept it, love it, work with what she presents and control our camera settings with as much skill as possible.
When you think back to the days of film 35mm etc, life was a lot simpler. Camera, 50mm Lens, Film, Aperture, Shutter Speed and the ASA/ISO of the film.
I remind myself of this now because Digital Cameras offer one golden key, we can change our ISO at will, with film you were locked in at ASA 200, 400 or 800 untill all exposures were over.
Bryan taught me how fill the Frame:
Exploit the close focusing of a Wide Angle:
Isolation and Visual Weight with creative Aperture Selection:
My shooting over the last two weeks has been a focused memory of my time learning from Bryan. I have even put my Fuji Cameras on stand by and enjoyed my Nikon Bodies and Lens. This connected me to all the great tips and tricks I learnt from him.
He was my friend.
I will miss him.
Every image I create carries his great teachings and signiture
Rest in peace buddy 😢
