Carnival Day 2 2019

The August Bank Holiday Monday is all about the Adults.

Carnival Monday brings West London to an all most standstill.

As I walked up to the entrance point, things were in full swing.

The colourful parade were gearing up for full blown self expression.

The Monday event is all about letting your hair down.

Grab yourself a whistle and make some noise.

Colour , Expression & Noise.

I did not stay long.

Creating these images where important to complete my intention.

As a Photojournalist, my duty is to capture the essence of life, the expression of the human spirit and create a personal narrative.

I must be honest and say I don’t enjoy being at Carnival any more. When I was younger me and my friends raved like there was no tomorrow.

Now, it’s all about peace and quite for me now, with camera in hand.

Being deaf has an advantage, I can’t hear the noise too much, just the thundering vibration of loud speakers.

I am glad I went.

I am happy with these images and it’s fascinating to me to experience life in this way.

I am now left with a question?

Given the context of The Notting Hill Carnival, I am left pondering; what value do people get from attending this?

That’s for each to claim for themselves.

My personal value is to document what I see and experience, to use these images to craft a story that on some level shines a light on the human experience.
