Dream Building

Dream building is a wonderful creative exercise for the imagination. I use this all the time when I desire to achieve a specific outcome.

I use my imagination to trigger the feelings of accomplishment right in this present moment where my desire is nothing more than a fantasy.

Fantasy is beautiful, it creates an experience of pure reality before it happens.

I have always wondered what makes The Leica so special?

What is the fuss all about?

Why do great photographers from the past all use The Leica:

Henri Cartier, Robert Capa, Joel Meyerowitz, Steve McCurry, all used this iconic brand of Camera, why?

This is a question I wanted to answer for myself.

Who better to ask than a Leica Expert.

I decided to visit The Leica Store in London and was delighted to see my friend Arteh. I knew he was a Leica Ambassador but didn't realise he worked in the store. He was very helpful and supported me with all of my questions about this Camera System.

If you follow my Journal, you wil know a few things about my work. I am an image creator who enjoys documenting life, people, the places I visit, the culture of a place, portraits and the expression of life. You also know my Lens of choice matches my natural vision: wide at 24mm and my natural telephoto at 70mm.

My natural focal length equals 24-70mm. Yes, I have wider and longer but they are for specific use cases.

Arteh showed me The Leica Q3.

The Q3 is a gorgeous Rangefinder with a fixed Focal Length of 28mm or 43 mm. It's all you would ever need to document life. It's a complete package. It reminds me of my X-Pro 2 with my XF18mm F2 Lens. At 28mm it gives me a natural wide view without feeling excessive. It's a field of view that I love working with.

I held it in my hand - it felt comfortable.

What really caught my attention was The Leica SL System.

The Leica SL is a DSLR style Camera Body with a deep grip which felt perfect in my hands. Absolutely perfect, just like my Nikon D750.

The ergonomics must feel correct with zero adjustments.

Once that is out of the way, I can begin to explore my optics - 24-70mmF2.8. Again the Leica version of this Lens is a perfect specimen for the Leica SL. It's a full frame mirrorless beauty and worth every penny it cost.

This combined unit comes in at £6,000.00.

You get what you pay for; The Leica Brand, outstanding engineering, Optical magic and image quality, the Leica Colours are my personal favourite. The Colours have rich tonal contrast without being over saturated. I have noticed this is what my eyes are drawn to.

The Leica SL has my personality - I am drawn to it.

It's mine.

My dream building is complete

Amen.
