There are some moment whilst out walking when I just feel compelled to shoot and or create an image.

This to me is photography.

It is important to me that my camera is with me at all times, just like my deck of cards, I just don’t leave home with out them.

My walk about camera of choice is my X100T.

Light, agile and fully capable of supporting me in my quest.

This shot is a simple reflection that caught my eye - it has colour, shape, form and yet, as Jay Maisel would say, “GESTURE”.

What is this illusive gesture he speaks of?

This confused me for a long while when I first heard it.

Gesture? 

This goes way beyond body language.

Gesture is a moment, context sensitive experience that I feel when I see something worth creating an image of. In this case, it was a combination of the colours, the flower, the scenery behind me caught in the frame. It was a multi layered experience the made me go, “ooh, that looks interesting” Right there in that moment, an image possibility came to life for me.
