Fashion Item

Thorsten Overgard said, “wear your camera everwhere”.

He went even further by saying, “your camera is part of your fashion statement” - or words to that effect.

I cannot create images if I don’t have my camera with me.

It’s that simple.

It’s a life style habit now.

What I find really beautiful now is, I don’t think about creating an image…it happens. I’ve said this before and I think it’s worth repeating, I see, I feel and I create.

Having my camera with me is no different than my deck of cards in my Messenger bag. My only thought before leaving the house is what Lens shall I experiment with today.

Right now, I have Wide Angle on my Brain.

My normal vision sees wide.

The XF18mm is my eye sight and perfect for my vision. However, I love the XF16mm F2.8 because it stops down to F22. This Aperture is my sweet spot for epic sharpness when shooting Landscape, Cityscape and compelling street environmental subjects. My widest is is my 14mm - it is epic.

I enjoying seeing wider.

It keeps my brain active and challenged. They say you should stick to one focal length.

Not me.

I am a human focal length machine.

My brain is now wired from 14mm right up to 300mm - 300 mm is my longest reaching Lens.

My coach told me to train myself and learn the visual vocabulary of all of my Lens. I took this heart.

I know exactly what focal length to use for a given subject and the appropriate Aperture, Shutter Speed, ISO combination to create my images.

It all works seamlessly now.

Eight years ago, I had no idea what was doing. Shooting on auto was boring - I knew that much.

Studying the mechanics and techniques made a big difference.

I create images every single day - in doors and out, no exception.

It’s a must.

So, wearing my camera everywhere is part of my fashion attire.

It looks and feels dam cool.
