FV | Inside Out

The image above reflects how I am really seeing now.

What my eye and mind sees verses what my Camera can record is worlds apart.

The human eye is a marvellous creation.

It can see a wider tonal range of bright and dark all in one go. My Camera can only see a limited dynamic range.

The image above is my edit of the original Raw File or Digital Negative. This allowed me to capture the brightest part of the image; this meant the inside Cafe went darker - this is the limit of my Camera Sensor.

I used the same technique with the two images above. It was raining so I took shelter inside the Train Station. The Raw File was dark; my editing allowed me full control over how I wanted my final image to render.

This inside out approach begins with seeing and interpreting what the scene is telling me. The Light, its warmth, quality and direction will add, shape, form and texture in varying amounts.

All of this impacts my vision.

Fresh Vision is an inside job.

“Your vision will become clear only when you can look into your own heart. Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes”.

Carl Jung
