FV | The Deeper Narrative

Every moment within the Frame carries a deeper narrative; this narrative communicates something much more than the surface level image.

Every image is an invitation to look and feel deeper into this narrative called Life.

I have been using my XF90mm all day today during my domestic duties. My brain automatically switched to 135mm in front of me.

I had no attachment to what was happening. I was only concerned with being open to
life occurring right now in the moment.

This is something I learnt from Jay Maisel; “just be open, be free and allow life to simply express itself to you”.

Jay Maisel is my hero; I gave studied his work and the Gear he uses. I discovered that he sees Telephoto. His Lens choice is the Nikon 28-300mm 3.5-5.6. That is a monster focal range and it means being totally comfortable seeing Wide & Long.

The image above would have been much easier to create using a 23/35mm on my Fuji. The 90mm is profoundly long which means taken several steps backwards to compose this Frame. I was more interested in the little Boat; I wanted to test how strong the 90mm/135mm really is.

Trust me, this Lens is OUTSTANDING.

I am now thinking about when I would use this Lens; Portraits, Candid Moments, Cityscape, Landscape, Urban Environment

All of this subjects qualify.

I am sold.

“I want there to be hints of narrative everywhere in the image so that people can make up their own stories about them. But I don't want to have my own narrative and force it on to them”.
