Marvellous Engineering

I have walked across this walk way many times.

It forms part of the architectural decoration of The Paddington Basin.

Today, I decided to take a closer look.

This section from this angle looks decorative.

And from this point of view, it looks like spikes coming out of the ground.

Here is another view of this mini Bridge.

It’s amazing how seeing something like this everyday leaves no room for further surprises, unless there is one more lurking.

Imagine my surprise when I saw this yesterday.

I love it when I am taken by suprise by something I am familiar with or so I thought.

The sections that make up the walk way all raise up into a fantastic fan like display. For the life of me, I can’t see the purpose for this design because this is where the Grand Union Canal begins and ends. Only a tiny Boat can pass under the legs of the Bridge.

Nevertheless, as a photographer, it made for a fascinating image worthy of creation.

Thanks for reading.
