My Photography

I don’t consider myself a Landscape Photographer.

My goal has been very clear from the start. To master my Camera to a high standard of technical proficiency.

It meant if I could achieve that, I could create an image of any subject that was of interest to me.

And I mean any subject.

Last weekend I was in Peterborough.

I met up with my dear friend Heather and I was confronted with this gorgeous seen in front of me.

Green grass, moody clouds, water and nice foliage.

How was I going to create this image? I only had one Camera and one Lens with me: the X-Pro 2 and the 16mm 1.4

I decided to take the wide-angle and leave everything else at home because I’ve never been to Peterborough before and I wanted to photograph the Cathedral.

The wide-angle would guarantee me an expensive field of view for one of the most famous Cathedrals in the United Kingdom.

Later, Heather and I drove to another area of Peterborough called Thorpe Meadows.

We walk in nature and I created a few images of the Landscape because that was the subject.

And I knew how to create the image - it’s that simple.

It doesn’t mean I’m a Landscape Photographer because I don’t like getting up early but I would do it simply because I have experienced the golden light of day. It’s the most beautiful thing to experience as a Photographer .

The early morning sunrise is worth getting up early for.

If I lived in the countryside Landscape would be my natural subject.

But I don’t, I live in the suburbs of London. I have to get on a train or drive outside of London to experience proper nature.

But here’s the point, I have learnt and mastered the techniques of Landscape Photography.

And they serve me well living in London because I view London as a concrete Landscape.

This comes under the heading of Cityscape where maximum depth of field is required for epic sharpness of image.

I live in a suburb called Maida Vale.

My neighbourhood is quite expansive and I refer to it as an environmentalscape opportunity to create images with an expansive view.

So for me, technique it’s far more important than being defined by one specific subject matter.

If you put me in a studio, I know how to set up my Lights and take Photographs of naked women.

Guess what, that’s going to be my next subject because I find Boudoir fascinating.

Fine Art Nude is a subject I find very interesting. I love Portraits, I love Animals, I enjoy creating images of Flowers, a little bit of everything: Colour, Shape, Texture, Lines, Form, Juxtaposition and most importantly the elusive gesture of life.

The expression of life in all its glory and manifestation.

That’s my Photography.
