Project 23mm | Lebanon in Panorama

I had to wait to until I got home before I could share these images.

These are all Panoramas created on my Xpro 2 in Vertical orientation and then stitched in Lightroom to create this gorgeous expansive views.

One Camera, One Lens and a little creative imaging, that is the point of this post.

The 23mm is the beginning of Wide Angle Photography, and yet not wide enough for this kind of image creation. So, it means using post processing technology and the limitation of my kit to create something interesting.

The image above was created from the balcony of my apartment.

This image was created on the morning after my arrival. This is the small Ampi-Theatre  at Byblos.

My 23mm just wasn't Wide enough to get it all in here so, once again a nine image stitch, shot vertically, made it possible to create this image of The Mosque on the Hill.

Creating a Panorama is one thing, using the technique of shooting overlapping frames can also mean getting the shot just right only because my Lens cannot feature the detail.

The image below is a detail shot as I experienced it. I only created it using the overlap process just so that I could make the fit work, not as a Panorama but as I saw the image.

A dedicated Wide Angle would have been cool but then, that introduces the need for foreground interest to give the subject scale and depth. Here, this Tower looks magnificent simply because it is and I wanted to create a feeling of immense size and power to the structure.

I love this technique, not just for creating a wide sweeping Landscape, I love it because this technique can mean the difference between an ok shot and image that feels right. It is very deceptive because as you look at this image, you will probably think a Wide Angle Lens was used rather than a sophisticated shooting and editing technique.

Just Like Magic…

Finally.

I would like to leave you in the hands of my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

The first time I saw this statue was on my arrival in Lebanon driving into Jounieh.

This was the one time when I really missed not having my Telehphoto Lens. I did not realise it at the time, but a better option would present it self to me.

My friend Pascal, on my last day would drive me up to the site on the Mountain where I would see the statue of Jesus looking over the city.

It was really beautiful and I could see that Jesus was perched on top of a Church.

Pascal, myself and Roderick would take a moment inside to reflect, pray and give our own silent prayers before heading to the airport for my flight home - these would be my last images created in this extraordinary country.

I dedicate this post to Pascal and Roderick for the lovely friendship, kindness and generosity.
