Remembering Bryan
April 8, 2025I woke up to the sad news that my friend and teacher Bryan Peterson has died.
He left April 5th 2025.
The sadness hit me like a thunderbolt, this had more impact than the loss of my beloved mother.
I was hoping to see him again, such a sad loss.
My memories of our time together are sharp and vivid like his gorgeous colour images.
Bryan was my hero, I loved him.
He taught me well and I create images just like him using his system he taught me.
It all began in 2012 when I purchased his Book Understanding Exposure. After reading the first few pages I made my first ever manual exposure - I was astounded. I couldn't believe how simple it was. I googled Bryan, found his website and sent him a message. Before I knew it, I signed up for his workshop in Washington D.C. That opening image above was created outside The White House.
The images above were created on his workshop with him standing next to me coaching through the process of creation.
He really was a great teacher.
My photography has his signature teachings all over it.
The only way I can honour his memory is through every image I create.
Rest in peace buddy
Life and Grieving are one.
To Grieve is to Live.
To fully Live is to embrace and accept it all.
To practice Magic and Grieve is to live.
To cry while practicing is to Live.
To remember loved ones is to acknowledge they Lived
All of these images reflect what I learnt from Bryan
Thanks for reading.
