The Moment

It takes courage not to disturb a scene.

How close is close enough without my presence impacting a developing moment?

How far away without being creepy?

I think I may have found the perfect balance and answers to my questions. The XF90mm F2.

My favourite Lens for Street Photography is the gorgeous XF23mm 1.4.

Hands down the most perfect Lens.

On my X100F the fixed F2 Lens is perfect.

I normally shoot around F8 - F11 with a Manual Zone Focus of 3 Metres. This gives me my range for stealth mode operation.

The magic of the candid moment cannot be underestimated.

This is pure life which fits my muse.

The expression and gesture in an undisturbed moment requires a little distance to remain invisible and a Lens that feels right for my shooting style.

That Lens is the XF 90mm F2.

This Lens on my XT1 feels no different than the XF 18-135mm F3.5-56.

This was the Kit Lens for the XT1 when I purchased this Camera in 2014. So the size and weight of the XF90mm F2 is dam near identical.

This is a Lens for Candid Street Photography.

The additional bonus is it’s ability for Street Portraits and Close-up Photography.

Subjective it is.

We must all find a system that feels right to us.

My System is direct and efficient now. I understand what is st stake. The magic moment is everything - it’s an all or nothing deal.

My tools allow the freedom to express myself and the confidence to get in close and the awareness that operating in stealth mode also has value.
