The Paddington Basin

My mother is now in her fourth week at St Mary’s Hospital.

I visit her everyday; with a minimum of two visits. This means she sees me and feels my presence inspite of being in a strange environment.

The Hospital is a 20 minute walk from my home. The Number 6 Bus takes about the same time frame to Edgeware Road - I then walk along The Paddington Basin to the Hospital.

The journey provides me with a visually rich experience to create images. If nothing else, creating images calms me and provides a wonderful meditation to deal with my mother being in this place.

The Paddington Basin is opposite The Hospital; it is spectacular.

This stretch of water connects with Little Venice becoming part of The Grand Union Canal; this leads all the way to Oxford.

What I find most impressive is how this whole area has become so built up with stunning Architecture; Commercial & Residential Buildings and Bars & Restaurants.

The surrounding area is a perfect place to relax.

This is a perfect place to create images. In spite of how I feel right now, I can still access gratitude for a lot of blessings in my life.

The gift of sight and being blessed with the spirit of a visual storyteller/photojournalist.

This is how I will spend the rest of my life.

Thanks for reading.
