The Perfect Lens

It has taken me a while to discover this.

Henri Cartier said my first 10,000 images will be my worst. I think I have clocked that number of images since 2013.

I feel confident now in my choice of Lens:

28mm - 35mm - 50mm - 70mm & 85mm

Lets Break it down:

28mm - Environmental - Documentary / Context

35mm - People with Context

50mm - Detail, very little context.

70mm - 85mm - People, Faces, little context.

What has delighted me has been the discovery of one Lens that covers this specific focal range.

For my Fuji Kit, The XF18-55mm F2.8-4 is simply outstanding.

For my Nikon FX D700 & D750 I discovered an old Nikkor Masterpiece the 28-70mm F3.5 - 4.5D. The only other Lens in this category which is stunning is the Fuji XF16-55mm F2.8 & The Nikon 24-70mm f2.8

While I love shooting with Prime / Fixed Focal Length, I am more inclined now to use my Street Zooms: that’s my four Prime Focal Lengths in one compact body.

This plus one Telephoto and my kit is complete for 90 % of my subjects.

One Camera - One Lens and a world of possibilities.
