2nd Assignment : Exposing for The Highlights.

This assignment is really interesting because it got me to focus on the bright areas in my image.

Exposing for the Highlights while keeping my dark areas reasonably dark and yet legible is tricky.

Our eyes can make quick adjustments to the different areas in a scene which are dark and light.

The Cameras Metering System can be fooled in too over exposing certain areas.

With the focus on the light areas while maintains some legibility in the shadows creates quiet a moody atmospheric image.

My X-Pro1 is a beautiful machine which managed this exercise with ease. I created this image using my XF16mm F2.

Aperture F22

ISO 400

SS 1/125

Matrix Metering

Shot Raw.

This meant my Raw File could be edited to keep the Highlights is good detail and keep my Shadow detail just under the visual radar.

Here is the Raw File edited in Colour.

The more I use The X-Pro1, the more I love. It has slowed me down - it’s a great tool for contemplative photography.

I will practice this Assignment as I go along.

Thanks for reading.
