X100F | Everyday Marvel

As an everyday imaging device, this little camera is pure magic.

Shooting Raw gives me confidence in getting it right in camera and not relying on Lightroom to save my images. This camera inspires confidence within me - knowing that my final edit will be a work of self-expression and artistic identity.

The X100F armed with Wide & Tele-Converter gives me a shooting range of 28mm and 50mm with the 35mm from the camera itself. It's no big deal changing Lens, 10 seconds done.

My Shooting today took in the native 23mm F2 from the camera which gives me a classic frame of 35mm. It is beautiful, the image above of my friend Matt reveals what I fine Portrait Camera set-up this is.

For documenting an environment, the 35mm Frame in such a compact body reveals extraordinary depth, texture and light rendering. It's a marvellous camera to have with me at all times and being able to create my images in the Raw format means my final output will be expressive.

My friend and mentor Bryan Peterson told me in no uncertain terms to create my jpegs from my edited Raw Files. He was well aware that modern cameras deliver wonderful images straight out of camera. The Fuji Film Cameras deliver extraordinary images ready to go. Bryan inspired me to be a craftsman with my camera just like I am with Magic - he loved my magic. He is no longer with us sadly so trust me when I say this, I honour his memory and teachings with every image I create and edit.

My Daily Messenger bag contains everything I need when I leave the house:

  • A deck of cards
  • Practice Mat
  • Two Conversion Lens
  • Two small Books - Magic and Photography plus A Notebook and Pens.
  • My Camera is around my neck

That's it, I am happy and complete with my everyday marvels.

Thanks for reading.

"I believe that, through the act of living, the discovery of oneself is made concurrently with the discovery of the world around us, which can mold us, but which can also be affected by us. A balance must be established between these two worlds—the one inside us and the one outside us".
