XF 18mm 1.4 - Pure Magic

It was only a matter of time before this Lens joined my family. I have had strong desire from the moment Fuji announced its arrival.

The XF 18mm 1.4 is sheer perfection for me, my vision and how it feels in my hands. Not heavy, just perfect on my X-Pro 2.

The field of view at 28mm is my natural Frame.

This Lens and optics does for me what a 35mm & 50mm does - it renders my vision with absolute integrity and so much more.

By getting in close, I can frame like a 50mm, a few steps back and I can allow more space to reveal context like a 35mm and when required, I have the full wide angle spectrum to create a beautiful storytelling composition. All this, plus the fact it renders with very little distortion wide angle lens are know for.

With this one Lens, I can cover many different possibilities.

Even Portraits

The Wide Angle Frame feels normal to my eyes - no optical trickery. Just a perfectly rendered frame.

I love the 28mm field of view.

I have the older version XF 18mm F2 and also use my X 100F with the WCLens and they are both perfect.

This new Lens is my Travel Buddy.

I will pair it with the XF56mm for a perfect two Lens set-up. The 1.4 Maximum Aperture means low light - it can see in the dark.

This most important thing I have come to realise is coming to terms with how my eyes work. Once I discovered how I see naturally, it was only a matter of time before I found the correct Lens to match my natural vision.

My vision and stories are rooted in seeing the glory of god in all of his glorious creations.
