2020 Vision | Seeing in Black & White

To strip a scene of its colour is to see deeper into the Light.

No Colour.

Different shades of Grey.

A relationship with the Shadow, Contrast and Hi-Lights.

The great masters like Henri Cartier Brendon, Robert Kapa, Brassai all saw the world in shades of grey.

I kind of miss not having studied Photography using film.

This was the time to create images with careful intent.

Ansel Adams knew best.

Black & White doesn’t get in the way.

The truth of the Light is revealed as it sculpts the subject.

Colour Imagery is how I see.

Sometimes, the Light reduces Colour to a flat and boring expression. That’s when Black and White becomes real for me.

Colour is magic.

Black and White is Raw truthful expression.
