A Prologue To Amsterdam

My Career as a Magician is slowly coming back to full life and expression. This week, I Travel to Amsterdam for two public performances and a special Lecture for the Dutch Magicians.

I am very excited.

I mention this because besides packing my clothes and props, I need to carefully consider my Camera & Choice of Lens.

I leave on Wednesday morning to catch my Euro Star so I am practicing today using my X-T1 paired with XF18-135mm F3.5-5.6.

This Lens is MAGNIFICENT.

At 18mm, I have a very comfortable Wide Angle; my Aperture starts at 5.6 and can go all the way up to F22 if required for storytelling compositions.

23mm, 35mm & 55mm are my focal Lengths when required to cut out extraneous information to my intend subjects. While this Lens is slow, with good light is functions perfectly. It’s a day time Lens; early morning right up to 5pm when Light Levels begin to give way to Sunset.

70mm & 135mm are my options for specific details.

These images were created this morning. I had an appointment with my Audiologist. I decided to catch the early morning Light and walk to Paddington Station; 20 minutes, walking along The Grand Union Canal is a photogenic delight.

I have decided to take this combination with me. It’s a perfect travel set-up; light, agile and it delivers. I have checked the weather for Amsterdam, it’s no different than London for the next week ahead so I will pack a fast Prime; either the XF23mm 1.4 or the stunning 16mm 1.4. - Fast Lens for Low Light.

My vision right now is focused on seeing the Light and where it falls. I will continue this on my Travels.

It’s all about the Light and what it reveals & what is hidden in the shadows.

To be continued.

Thanks for reading.
