FV | Moody January

January is moody month for me; the death of my mother has only added to my melancholy.

Living in London means this time of year will be cold, overcast, flat Light, snow and rain. All of this has an impact on how my Camera renders the colour in my images.

The colour is flat, boring, lacks vibrancy and feels yucky.

I set my Camera to shoot a Raw Digital Negative. I also set my Film Colour Simulation to match; in this case, January is good month of cool Classic Chrome.

I love Classic Chrome anytime of year; it is a faith representation of Moody January as I feel and experience it.

The Colours retain all of their moody flat character and yet, I can feel the authentic vibration and expression. I strive to document what I see and how I feel. The Fuji X-System gives me many options for adjusting and tweaking how I want my images to look.

I like the look of these images I created today.

In spite of the moody ambience, there are great moments waiting to be seen and documented.

The expression of life is everywhere, this is the mood I care about and seek no matter what; in fact moody January is the perfect month simply because, it adds to the visual narrative.

“It takes a lot of imagination to be a good photographer. You need less imagination to be a painter because you can invent things. But in photography everything is so ordinary; it takes a lot of looking before you learn to see the extraordinary”.
