Immersive Vision

Today, it’s all about the immersive view.

The Wide Angle.

My 10-24 is a stunning Lens which offers up a spectacular vision. This image of James above was created at 24mm which is 36mm on my X-T1; the classic 35mm Frame. This Frame is the industry standard.

Let’s go W-I-D-E-R.

On my XF 10-24mm is an option to shoot at 18mm. I love this field of view, it correlates to 27/28mm on a Full Frame and is a perfect vision for my eyes.

I don’t own the new 18mm 1.4, all in good time. I make do with what I have. The 10-24 is really designed for a spectacular frame with deep layers.

The secret to the Wide Angle Vision is the immediate foreground. There must be something in the immediate foreground that opens up the visual conversation. I also feel, this opening foreground sets the tone for the visual narrative, a context driving story.

As my coach Bryan Peterson tells me, the Wide Angle Lens is a story telling Lens.

I love the wide view because it allows me the opportunity to see layers in the frame. Like any good story, there is a beginning, middle and the ending.

When I use a Lens like this, my starting Aperture is F8. Wide Angles are beautiful for deep depth of focus and this Lens is very special for creating very sharp images.

My favourite Aperture is F 22 when my focal Length is at 16/24mm. With a manual focus of the hyper focal distance starting at 1 metre, my entire frame will be sharp front to back.

These visual exercises are my daily practice because when I travel, my desire is to create the most beautiful images.
