RV | A Disciplined Approach

Refined Vision has become my new focus and discipline. Using the 50 mm Lens lately has gotten me into a new way of seeing and framing.

The 50mm Frame requires space - I call it a contact sport with the subject. Moving and navigating a scene for the best composition.

I noticed when using the 50mm, that my creative use of Aperture became intuitive.

I am experimenting with using this field of view as if it’s a 35mm Lens - just like Henri Cartier Bresson.

I allow myself plenty of room - standing back far enough so that I can zoom in with my feet and create my Frame. It’s a very deceptive looking Frame.

The Photograph at the top features my X-Pro 1 paired with XF27mm F2.8. This Lens is a very deceptive piece of Kit. On my Camera, it has field of view of 42mm. This is 8mm wider than a 50mm. I consider this “BREATHING SPACE” around my subject. Look at the images below taken with this Lens; I find them quite amazing.

The X-Pro 1 & The XF 27mm make for a solid partnership. It’s a compact unit for an everyday carry around kit. At 42mm, it gives me a very natural looking Frame which feels good to my eyes.

I have added this Lens to my X-Pro 1 Tool Box -along side the XF18mm F2, the 35mm F1.4 and the 60. All three Lens work fine. With the 40mm Frame, it compliments my refined vision.

Refining my vision has become my philosophy now. This means getting the best out of the gear I have and training myself to see and respond to life exactly as my Lens see. It’s a win win relationship.
