The Light At Night | Ptllll

Shooting at night is pure magic.

You have to get the timing right.

It’s all about The Blue Hour.

I checked the forecast for Sunset and it said 17:38pm. However, I noticed the light levels dropping by 16:30pm

There were no clouds and I felt it looked promising for some nice Blue Light. I grabbed my tripod and walked up to Maida Vale Station.

I was shooting with my X-Pro2 and the stunning XF14mm F2.8.

I really love the 14mm - it’s a very expansive view. Once my camera was in place, I set up, my camera with the following settings:

ISO: 100

Aperture Priority: F22

Shutter Speed fluctuated between 20 seconds right up to 30 seconds.

I pre -set my focus to 1 meter for maximum depth of field.

Using a Wide-Angle Lens is all about getting close to the foreground interest. With the 14mm, it is stunning how close I can get and still capture a vast scene.

The light trails look gorgeous.

I was after real character tonight.

I was hoping for straight lines and curves.

It’s waiting game.

With the clock ticking, the Blue Light doesn’t last long, 40 minutes is a blessing.

I had to change my position a few times to get the right spot. I love this junction at Maida Vale - it also happens to be a death trap, many accidents have occurred at thus roundabout.

I was happy with that last image - a perfect balance between lines and curves.

My next mission is Piccadilly Circus - that should be spectacular.

To be continued.
