The Next Decade - 2020

As I reflect on this last month of this new decade, I can see one conversation that has been a constant; my Mother.

As her Dementia attempts to grip her memories tightly, I stand guard and keep my dearest mum active and engaged in life. She has become my photographic muse - my daily inspiration.

I am so grateful that my Camera has become my respite from the daily battles of dealing with her confusing, memory loss and learned helplessness.

I am studying Off-Camera Flash right now and the results are stunning. I love this education, it has given me a deeper appreciation for the Light, it’s direction and quality.

The images of my Mother were a created using the incredible Pixapro AD360 with Battery Pack and Trigger.

All of this was fitted into a Bowen’s S Mount and Gadox Softbox. I also put to use a White Poster Board to act as my Reflector.

I was thrilled to see my buddy Matt and take a photo walk with him. I showed him my Neighbourhood, Little Venice.

Matt very kindly allowed me use his Fuji XF50-14mm F2.8

Oh my goodness, I am in heaven.

This Lens is gorgeous. I was astonished how light it was on it XPro2.

On reflection, it would sit better on my XT body with grip.

Nevertheless, this is one hell of a lens.

I am torn now because I have my heart set on the XF90mm F2 because I have a thing for faces. In any case this Lens is beautiful.

My image creation this month of January has been given by the studying of Camera Flash because I take of mum and need to be present for her. So I have not done as much walking about.

That’s ok, I create images in doors.

I still love this process, there is always something photograph.

What will February hold?

My birthday next month.

I am just grateful to be alive and share my passions.
