The Study of Colour | Expression

It’s everywhere, you can take it for granted, assuming you are not blind. The one thing you cannot do is ignore it.

You would feel its absence if we lived in a world full of different shades of great.

The impact of Colour in our world and our ability to distinguish it and appreciate its variety cannot be underestimated.

This project has given me a deeper appreciation for the expression of Light and how it manifest the various intensity of Colour. I noticed on overcast days or when sat in the shade I needed to take creative control over my Metering.

The 18% shades of grey is a phenomenon unique to how the metering system in my Camera interprets the Light on my colourful subjects.

Take a look at Mr Orange.

•mThe Raw File bares no resemblance to this Final Edit. I deliberately exposed this moment to hold onto detail in highlights. Mr Orange was left in The Shadows. I knew I could rescue detail in Mr Orange to preserve the colourful integrity of the moment.

The Colour adds to the expression of life. Even if the Colours are muted, its presence will still be felt by me.

When all is said and done The Colour, The Light & The Expression / Gesture all contribute to my Visual Narrative.
