Two Lens Set-up | 56mm & 23mm
February 4, 2025I really like the idea of a two Prime Lens Set-Up
My Two Lens approach would feature the XF23mm 1.2 & The XF56mm 1.2
When the X-Pro 1 was first released, Fuji Film also gave us three Lens at the same time.
A Perfect trilogy for most subjects:
The XF18mm F2
The XF35mm F1.4
The XF60mm F2.8
That's a Wide, Normal & Telephoto set up to cover 90% of subjects. The only thing missing is a second camera body to avoid changing Lens in the field.
The Wide View at 18mm
The Short Telephoto View at 56mm
A Two Lens, Two body set up; why not just have a fast zoom like the 16-55mm F2.8?
Good question, One Camera and One Lens which behaves like multiple Primes. I think a Zoom like this or even the 16-80mm F4 also offers great value in this context. Nevertheless, a Two Lens Set up matches my way of seeing and operating. The additional benefit for me is it teaches me how to see as my Lens does and respond accordingly. Working with Primes means Zooming with my feet.
This approaches stimulates my optical vocabulary and consolidates my database of knowledge regarding how my Lens see.
I am exploring different kinds of workflow and flexibility.
To be continued
