X100F | Capturing Light

eorge Eastman once said;

"Light makes photography. Embrace light. Admire it. Love it. But above all, know light. Know it for all you are worth, and you wpill know the key to photography"

He should know, he was Mr Kodak.

I have thought a lot about this statement, it sums up the very essence of Photography.

Without Light, we still be fumbling in the dark.

4.4 Billion years ago the greatest Strobe or Light source ever created was born - OUR SUN 🌞

This spectacular event meant photography became a possibility.

The Camera has one job; to record Light - that's it.

Whatever subject happens to be in the presence of Light will be glorified and illuminated.

Now that I am shooting Raw again, I am creating my images with the edit firmly in mind. This means seeing the Light, feeling its temperature and exposing creatively to ensure the Light I see will be documented. Getting this right at the moment of capture is paramount to a successful edit in my Digital Darkroom.

Once I see the Light, she's mine.

Thanks for reading.

"How the visual world appears is important to me. I'm always aware of the light. I'm always aware of what I would call the 'deep composition.' Photography in the field is a process of creation, of thought and technique. But ultimately, it's an act of imaginatively seeing from within yourself".
