Night Vision

Everything changes at night.

Creating images at night when there is very little Light becomes very interesting to me.

Painting with Light when there isn’t much requires a different type of strategy.

A fast lens as required.

My choice of optics is The 16mm 1.4.

I can’t see myself using anything else for this type of image creation.

It is perfect.

It’s a different feeling altogether.

The mood is different.

Whatever Light is available I can work with it.

Three things work in my favour:

The Lens - shooting wide open 1.4

Shooting RAW - exposing for whatever Light is available.

The RAW Edit - this is where the real magic happens.

What’s astonishing to me is the amount of detail I can retain in The Shadows by exposing for The Highlights.

I have embraced The High ISO - that is no longer a concern for me.

Auto ISO - 1600 - Upwards

I set my Shutter sowed to 1/125

This settings work perfectly because I am not doing Long Exposures. If there is movement, I don’t mind.

That’s it.

Very simple - I am experimenting with different subjects. I am looking for low light settings like music gigs in pubs and Bars nexts.
